If you have remotely had the television on any news channel this morning, you have probably seen some result of the South Carolina primaries. Following the results, the talk immediately became can Trump be stopped. I’m sure this morning, the question has been presented to the campaigns and plans are being devised on how to stop the Donald. I’m trying to wrap my head around the comments and thoughts behind stopping the Trump Train. Why such an effort to stop him and not a focused effort of stopping the actual problem? I’m afraid the focus is on the wrong person and wrong idea.

I am not one entertained by the ads and attacks on an individual. This has become a practice in elections of late, not just 2016. Instead of tapping into what Trump has reigned in, these campaigns have attempted to attack him, yet they don’t realize the attacks are not working. If anything, these attacks help Trump and hurt the candidate. Jeb Bush, between Super Pac and campaign funds, invested 150 million dollars to a lost cause. The majority of debate time and ad time was Bush attempting to hurt Trump. It didn’t work. Cruz, though he resisted at first, has been jabbing in the last debates. The debates themselves have been a ‘take a shot at Trump’ game. Yet it seems nothing negatively affects Trump. What is the magic behind Donald Trump?

Trump has tapped into a group of people that have been ignored. He has tapped into the people working everyday to simply put food on the table. The person that gets up and goes to church on Sunday and tries to love his neighbor but might miss a Wednesday night prayer meeting to work a little overtime in order to provide a nice vacation for the family. Trump has listened. At times, I think he has sat at the table of morning muster at a fire station or walked over to get a cup of coffee in the break room and overheard many of the conversations. He stands in front of packed out arenas that are full of frustrated taxpayers. These taxpayers are tired of being robbed by a federal government who promised to listen but that congress has fallen short on the promises. The Trump Train has stopped at the depot of everyday America. It has drilled deep into the core of America. It has aimed its gun at Washington D.C. and says you’ve not listened to America and that is about to change.

As the dust of the South Carolina primary clears, those licking their wounds, after being steam rolled by the train, may want to change the message. Instead of trying to trump the Trump, maybe change the target. Instead of trying to smear the reputation of the competition, they should shout a warning to Washington that they are coming and bringing America with them. The White House isn’t the target; ALL of Washington is the target. I suggest those still standing today cross over the line and join Trump. They don’t have to agree, but they need to join. Join in listening to America. Listen to those people that want America to be great once more. Listen to those people that attach the label ‘MADE IN USA’. Listen to those that work for the American Dream. Simply put, Listen to America!

Stop Screaming Racism

A story is out this morning on The Blaze which came from The New York Daily News of a

student at St. John’s University being threatened for supporting Donald Trump. The student, 20-year-old Brianna Algazali, had her photo unknowingly taken by 18 year old Clifford Durand. He posted this picture on twitter stating, “7000 tweets and I smash this bi%$#’s computer”. The two eventually squared off, as the story goes, in a coffee shop and the situation is being dealt with by the public safety of the university. Though the story is frustrating, I don’t want to focus on this part. I want to focus on the end of the story. I want to focus on one tweet about racism mixed into the argument.

While following the story and the tweets from those around the situation, one individual made reference to this being a race issue. Seriously?!? Has race become

the focus and end to every issue we face in our lives? This situation had nothing to do with race. Its about a female student minding her own business expressing her free speech and another person not liking what she was saying and threatening her, but somehow, the race card was pulled. I for one am sick and tired of the race card.

This young man, as the others that easily pull the card and cry racism, knows nothing of racism. He sits at St. John University getting an education and sits beside various people with different skin color. He has the same opportunity as any other young person in America, to dream a dream and actually, if they work hard, reach that dream. Unlike many who, before the hard fought efforts of the civil rights movements, had no fair opportunity to reach their dream. Individuals like this cheapen the lives of Martin Luther King Jr. He cheapens the four little girls who lost their lives in the Birmingham Church bombing. He cheapens the sacrifices and hard fought battles of those individuals that fought hard against the stereotype to reach equality. The only racism this young tweeter understands is the racism he creates. Racism is offensive! Stereotyping is offensive! But more offensive is the thought that racism today is anything like it was in the past. All people should fight against this cheap shot to history.

Our country, this great United States Of America, has overcome racism. No longer are images burned in our minds of people hanging from trees, or being knocked down in the streets with fire hoses, or crosses burning in the yards. I am not ignorant of the fact that some people in the country do harbor hate in their hearts for skin color, but this is on all sides and they do not have the national impact it once did. The media likes to portray racism as white on black, but racism affects all skin color. It is time for the race baiting to stop. To the ones who hold the card close, ready to pull at the first sign of hurt feelings, please stop dividing. Understand Americans have moved past skin color. We eat and drink with each other. We work with each other. Heck, we even marry each other! So I ask you to stop using the same motivator as the bombers of that Birmingham church. Stop screaming racism!
